EPISODE 10~ GUEST BLOG: 10 Ways to Shoot and Sell Stock Photos for Cash

You could make $500 or more per month —without even trying— by
posting photos you already own to multiple stock photo sites. The
pictures do have to be appropriate for stock photo purposes. Here are
10 tips so you’ll know which images in your library might bring you an
unexpected passive income.

1. Picture potential stories. With stock photography, your images can tell
hundreds of stories for a variety of brands. Set up your shots in advance
with a few ideas in mind on how they can be used and then market them
accordingly.

2. Avoid brands and logos. Your photos cannot be used for stock
purposes if there are brands, logos, or trademarks in the image. Brands
don’t want to see other brands’ images in their ads. Plus many brand
names, logos —and even shapes— are copyrighted. Keep it simple and
off-brand.

3. Focus on people. Stock photos can range from people working out
at the gym to working in the office, to landscape shots of nature. If you’re
really looking to make money, though, photos with people in them sell
the best.

4. Get model and property releases. You must have model releases in
order to sell any photos of recognizable people. Also make sure you
have property releases for any photos that show recognizable
properties. Without these, you won’t be able to use your photos legally.

5. Include negative space. Your stock photos will stand out amongst
the rest with negative space, not only because the subject is the clear
focus, but also because it leaves plenty of room for those using your
photos to include headlines, titles, and other information. Plus, clean,
simple images are popular right now!

6. Consider your unique access. Think about people you know who
may be able to give you access to unique scenes. Do you know a
college professor, who would let you shoot classroom photos? Or a zoo
keeper who might be able to get you behind-the- scenes for animal

shots? Also look for lists of scenes microstock companies need, and see
if you have a way of providing them.

7. Shoot with large resolution. Customers purchasing your stock
photos might have to blow them up into large formats or edit the photos
as they please, this makes it crucial to shoot high resolution photos so
they are never pixelated or distorted.
8. Save art for another project. Stock photos are meant to be simple
with a clear image and story surrounding them. If you enjoy artsy
photography, continue to work on your experimental photos, but save
them for an appropriate audience in art galleries.

9. Optimize keywords and tags. By using tags, keywords, and
detailed descriptions, your photos will be placed into more —but also
specific— categories. This provides the opportunity for your photos to be
seen by a large pool of people who truly need them. Many stock sites
will actually do this for you now!

10. Consider using multiple stock sites. I’m a fan of Snapwi.re and
it’s the only stock photo site I work with, because it has terms that are more generous to photographers. But if Snapwi.re won’t work for you, putting
your portfolio on multiple different stock photo sites is an option. It may
seem like a lot of maintenance, but really there’s nothing to maintain.
Uploading photos is a one-step process, but the revenue can trickle in for
years to come.

EPISODE 9~ GUEST BLOG: POSHMARK SELLER TIPS FROM AN ACTUAL POSHMARK SELLER

POSHMARK SELLER TIPS FROM AN ACTUAL POSHMARK SELLER:

#1 – Poshmark is Not eBay – And that’s a good thing!
Many new users who come to Poshmark assume that it is like eBay.
They list an item for sale and then they let it sit in their closet. They don’t
realize the social aspects of Posh are there and they certainly don’t realize
how crucial they can be to your success. I like to think of Poshmark as a
platform where eBay meets Instagram. You get to communicate with your
buyers, you can see who likes your item, and you get to know people within
the Poshmark Community. Friendships are so common on the platform that
Poshmark has even dubbed friendships stemming from the app as “PFFs.”
(Posh Friends Forever). I will be the first to say that because of its social
aspects, Poshmark is unique in the online selling world. It requires you to
be social. Sharing your items from your closet, working with people
shopping your closet, and communicating with others in the app are all
keys to being a successful Poshmark seller. The difference between
Poshmark and eBay selling as Active Vs. Passive selling. Unlike eBay, you
can use these social tools to directly impact your sales. Having a slow
sales day on Posh? Share your items, reach out to buyers who have
purchased from you in the past, and communicate with those who have
liked several items in your closet to offer them a bigger discount if they buy
more than one item. Doing these things will help positively impact your
sales within the app.

#2 – Harness the Power of the Bundle and Posh Post Shipping!
Bundling is unique to Posh. Bundling allows someone to purchase
more than one item from your Poshmark closet, usually at a discount, and
then you are able to ship them together. The great thing is you can set a
bundle discount automatically to anything from 5-30% and buyers can
bundle and save on their own. Posh also recently did an app update where
you can send private bundle discounts to people who have bundled items
from your closet and not yet purchased! It’s called the Dressing Room. This
is great for impulse buys! I like to wait about 30 minutes after someone has
bundled some items and then send them a quick private discount. Many
times this is enough to get them to hit that buy button! Poshmark is also
unique in that it has its own shipping called PoshPost and it is dirt cheap. I
mean it. Some people will claim that $6.49 is high for shipping, but for that

$6.49 you receive priority shipping which is usually delivered in 2 days, and
you can ship up to 5lbs for that price. Try shipping 5lbs on your own with
USPS from say New York to California, or even Hawaii or Alaska for $6.49!
It won’t happen. On Posh, the buyer pays the shipping, and the seller only
needs to print the label that is sent to them by Poshmark, and place the
item in a FREE USPS Priority box, slap on the label and either drop off the
item at the post office or request a free home pickup online with USPS.
This is seriously the easiest, fastest shipping in the industry. It saves the
buyer and seller money, and provides an amazingly fast ship time when the
seller ships ASAP.

#3 – Pay Attention to Trends and Style Staples!
Poshmark is a trendy place, with boutiques and unique brands
created by Poshmark users themselves popping up all the time to bring you
the hottest fashion-forward styles. For those of us who do resell, paying
attention to these trends and styles is essential to competing. Offering
trendy items that may not be top brands pulls in buyers to your closet by
providing that “in the now” look. While trends are important, knowing your
brands is even more essential to success. Good brands are considered
style staples. When we buy a wardrobe piece that costs $300 at Saks we
are buying a piece that we will love for a long time. No matter if it’s a dress
shirt, blazer or designer denim jeans, they will stick around for a while.
Knowing when to source trendy items that may not be top brands is key to
bringing a fresh look to your closet, but knowing these key brands is how
you pull people back into your closet over and over again. Learning these
brands is as simple as scouring top department store websites, like Saks
and Nordstrom, and taking field trips to the stores themselves to look touch
and feel what these items are so you know. Building a brand list in your
brain takes time, but once you get the hang of it, and know what to look for
in quality goods, you can easily feel quality. Once you get this down, even
if you don’t know a brand, you can do a google search from your phone
while you are out to learn more about something if it has the signs of being
a hidden gem.

#4 – You are your own brand on Posh, and you need to build it!
Poshmark is somewhere you can easily brand yourself. You are your
own brand, and you are you own ambassador. On Poshmark I am

@JCradd and my brand is Acquitted Apparel. Everyone knows me on there
as those two things. Many people have a user name and then their brand.
It is up to you to harness the abilities of being a brand. In order to make
yourself memorable and stand out you should make your closet unique.
You can do this by using a unique background in your photos, branding
yourself with unique brand logos on your photos, ordering unique
packaging materials and thank you notes, and other little tricks that you will
pick up from successful Posh sellers.
#5 – Make your cover shot count!

Remember how I said Posh is like eBay meets Instagram? Your
cover shot is the first thing people see in the feed or when searching for
items. It’s your first impression and much like on Instagram to get the most
likes you’ve got to make it stand out. I love using a cheap background I
purchased online and doing flat lays to get the best look for an item. I will
also use a mannequin if a piece requires it. All of my items have the same
or similar backgrounds, and feature my logo for my brand, Acquitted
Apparel. You should make sure your lighting is good, and if not, invest in a
cheap light kit. Also, quickly edit your photos with your iPhone pre-installed
editing software. It takes two seconds and can make a world of difference.
#6 – Have fun, because the people at PMHQ do!

I always joke with people in my Facebook group that I’m jealous of
the folks who work at Posh Headquarters because they look like they have
so much fun. The great thing is, that positive fun attitude is contagious and
spreads throughout the Posh community. Everyone (well just about
everyone) is friendly and loves to meet people, talk, and do things involving
fashion. Sure, we get our share of people with grumpy tudes, but that
shouldn’t bother you. When you encounter someone like that let it roll off
your back. (Online selling requires a thick skin like any retail business, the
great thing about online though is you can block them!) If you have
questions as you begin your Posh journey, or even as you become a
seasoned Posh vet, don’t hesitate to ask others. Posh is a place to be you,
do what you want to do, sell what you want to sell fashion-wise, and even
do it with the help of friends and family. Have fun with it, for real, because it
can be the most fun job or side hustle of your life. I promise.

EPISODE 7~ GUEST BLOG: Save Up To 20 Percent with a USED Dark Horse Car

Top 10 Dark Horse Cars of 2015

By Ronald Montoya, Senior Consumer Advice Editor, Edmunds.com

Elisabeth’s note: These are the cars Edmunds.com chose as great “dark horse” vehicles back in 2015, along with commentary on why. If you’re looking for a used car in 2017, 2-3 year old vehicles are the sweet spot, so this list is very timely! Former Edmunds editor John DiPietro originally compiled this list.

2015 Buick LaCrosse:
www.edmunds.com/buick/lacrosse/2015/?sub=sedan
“The 2015 Buick LaCrosse is a well-rounded large sedan that pampers its occupants and drives nicely — especially with the V6.”

2015 Chrysler 200:
www.edmunds.com/chrysler/200/2015/?sub=sedan
“With a more powerful base four-cylinder engine and a thoroughly overhauled interior, the midsize 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan has what it takes to fight for a spot in your driveway.”

2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid:
www.edmunds.com/ford/c-max- hybrid/2015/?sub=wagon
“The 2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid is an interesting alternative to compact crossovers, wagons and hybrids. Its high fuel economy and refined driving manners make it especially appealing.”

2015 Ford Fiesta:
www.edmunds.com/ford/fiesta/2015/?sub=hatchback
“The 2015 Ford Fiesta is a fun-to- drive small car, with a nicely trimmed cabin, excellent build quality and plenty of connectivity features. If you’re looking for an economy sedan or hatchback that feels like a more expensive car than it really is, the Fiesta deserves serious consideration.”

2015 Hyundai Genesis:
www.edmunds.com/hyundai/genesis/2015/?sub=sedan
“The Hyundai Genesis has always offered plenty of features at a very agreeable price. But this
year’s redesigned 2015 Genesis has all that, plus the quality interior and overall refinement it was missing previously. It’s a top choice for a luxury sedan.”

2015 Hyundai Sonata:
www.edmunds.com/hyundai/sonata/2015/?sub=sedan
“The 2015 Hyundai Sonata further refines the midsize sedan formula with a new look, revised powertrain and plenty of tech and convenience features. If you want plenty of passenger room and a quiet, easy-to- live-with cabin, this Sonata definitely has what you’re looking for.”

2015 Kia Forte
www.edmunds.com/kia/forte/2015/?sub=sedan
“Upscale design, quality and value underscore the 2015 Kia Forte’s appeal. It’s certainly a great choice for a small sedan, hatchback or coupe.”

2015 Kia Sedona:
www.edmunds.com/kia/sedona/2015/?sub=minivan
“With more modern style, a new interior, a fuel-efficient V6 and loads of standard features, the 2015 Kia Sedona should make a compelling alternative to established minivan choices.”

2014 Mazda 5:
www.edmunds.com/mazda/mazda5/2014/?sub=minivan
“The sporty 2014 Mazda 5 is a good option for small families who don’t need all the space and amenities of a full-size minivan but still want three rows of seating.”

2015 Nissan Altima:
www.edmunds.com/nissan/altima/2015/?sub=sedan
“The 2015 Nissan Altima continues to be a top choice among family sedans, delivering excellent fuel economy and a rare blend of comfort and agility.”

EPISODE 06~ GUEST BLOG: How to Transform Your Resume and Start Getting Calls For Interviews

By Charmaine Pocek,
Award-winning Resume Writer, Career Expert, Former Recruiter

I write resumes based on what a recruiter is scanning for in those critical 5-10 seconds – and they land interviews, so start preparing now!!! There is a method to my madness, and it stems from recruiting for 15+ years and transitioning into a full-time resume writer.

The format you received, works. In fact it works MIRACLES! Do NOT create a PDF document – some older applicant-tracking systems cannot parse or upload PDF files. If you ordered a graphical resume, GREAT idea! Just use this to send via email or bring to your interview, but do not send via an ATS upload (HR System/online application). Click to see a sample of a graphical resume.

Why isn’t my resume only one page? Aren’t those better? NO, NO, NO!!! Maybe 15 years ago when applicants had to fax in resumes, and the 2 nd page got lost, but not now – showcase your skills! This is hard to do with only a page (some professionals can use 1-page resumes or newer graduates). Location: I live in Houston, composed of countless suburbs and recruited for a HUGE company with 20+ locations. If I saw someone applying to my location but lives 30 miles away, I would pass, immediately – no matter how qualified due to the commute. Keep it simple and list only your City, State to dodge commuting issues (if you don’t mind the commute)! So, if you are in a big city, leave off your physical address/suburb and just list the City, State and NO zip code ?

What happened to my content – it’s gone!! Resumes are not a list of duties/tasks, but a list of accomplishments! This is why you see me adding things to your bullets and rewording so much – showcase your achievements! The more data you add directly corresponds to your credibility! Even if you don’t have specific numbers, using “more than, approximately” can be substituted resulting in the same powerful impact!, Click to see how a professional resume writer formats resumes.

Which sounds better?
Increased sales in a competitive region. Increased revenues from $5M to $18M within eight months, exceeding quotas 110%.

Selected Highlights – isn’t this repetitive? You have about 5-10 coveted seconds to grab the recruiter’s attention. I pull data- driven highlights to the top and highlight this portion – the recruiter’s eyes are immediately drawn to this section which lists 5 of your most awesome accomplishments – this is one of the best parts of your new resume!

What is the deal with the Additional Credentials?

Why list Technical Skills – doesn’t EVERYONE use Microsoft Office? Probably – but, if you have a new recruiter searching for people to fill a job and they decide to add Microsoft and Office and Word and Excel to their ATS search, you just lost out of being considered – better to be safe and keyword optimize every chance possible!

Organizations? Sure! It shows you are active in your industry, connecting with others and networking. There are several new groups on LinkedIn you can even use. This shows initiative – see my examples on your resume.

Languages – Doesn’t everyone know Spanish? NO! Being Bilingual is a huge asset! Show this off! I like to put bilingual/multilingual in the introduction and additional credentials. It sets you apart

Awards/Honors – It’s hard to brag about yourself, everyone feels the same way. Adding awards makes you unique! Ideas – Dean’s List in College, Employee of the Month, any sales awards, even a recognition from management or a thank you email. It makes a difference! Volunteer work? I don’t volunteer; there is no time! When I was recruiting, I had several managers insist on a very well- rounded candidate. By putting this ON your resume, you become less of a piece of paper and more of a human!

Examples: I LOVE animals, so when I saw SPCA on a resume, that person got a phone call. I worked for one Director who LOVES Disney. I had an underqualified candidate who wrote that she volunteered at Disney one summer – she got the interview and the job!!! Volunteering does not have to mean sitting on the board of a non-profit, just a monetary donation to the Red Cross/SPCA/, etc. is considered volunteerism!

Activities/Interests – WHY??? When I recruited, this was a GREAT ice-breaker for interviews. It also once again makes you human and not a piece of paper. Just make sure it’s nothing political/controversial – stick to sports, reading, family, outdoors, travel, etc. See the examples I listed. Isn’t my resume too much – do I seem too good or is it just over the top? NO! You are this awesome – get ready to start fielding offers!

*Note from Elisabeth: To SEE how Charmaine transforms
resumes, see the Episode 6 YouTube video, in which we look at a “Before” and “After” resume and analyze the changes she made. How to Nail The Interview and Get the Job

—Advice From a Top Recruiter

? RESEARCH where you are interviewing! In the interview, mention facts about the company. Memorize their website, spend hours on LinkedIn knowing who is interviewing you. Research in an interview turns into the upper hand.

? ASK QUESTIONS – make sure you have 5-10 questions ready to ask as well, written down in a notebook you bring with you. See below for some great ideas. If you don’t ask questions, 92% of the time, you will not be extended an offer.

? COMPLIMENT.

Who doesn’t like a compliment? I’m not advising on telling your interviewer they are good looking ? but you can mention – Congrats on the accomplishments/xx years with the company/release of xx project, etc.
? NEVER, ever, ever, ever, ever badmouth a former employee or firm. Even if you left on bad terms that were completely out of your control – turn this into a positive.

? Dress professionally! Wear a suit, End of story!
? Make frequent eye contact – this can be uncomfortable, but it shows confidence.
? Answer questions directly.

You will be asked SPECIFIC questions, give a SPECIFIC answer (see below for behavioral interview tips). One of the main reasons recruiters/employers do not move forward with candidates is their inability to answer a SPECIFIC question.

? Smile, OFTEN! Be upbeat and make positive statements.
? Arrive 10 minutes early, NO earlier (looks too anxious). Wait in the hall or a nearby facility if needed.
? NEVER ask about salary.

If you have a recruiter or an HR contact, it’s OK to ask them AFTERWARD, but never, ever ask a hiring manager (same about benefits). This is for later. Common Interview Questions and how to answer them!!! These are important, but most have been replaced with behavioral interview situations – see below. Why did you leave your last job? Second, only to behavioral questions, your tenure will be detailed – so have an answer for EVERY job change on your resume. Some common and believable reasons – I relocated too far from the position, they asked me to travel more, the company was bought out and now unstable, etc. Stay away from “I got a better offer.”

Tell me about this gap in employment – Always keep this positive. The gap can be because you had a family obligation or traveled!

Tell me about a conflict with a coworker or supervisor –

Whatever your answer, have one. It is unbelievable that a person has worked for a long time without a conflict. Just make it positive – focus on how you talked it through with them WITHOUT involving management, and it turned into a very positive long-term, beneficial working relationship. Why should we hire you? This is also still asked – so plan your answer and practice it. There is no right or wrong answer for this, but you need to sell yourself. This is usually asked by a colleague, not a supervisor in a peer-panel interview – so remember to not come off as superior.

What is a Behavioral Interview?
Companies lose a lot of money if an employee quits or is let go.Behavioral interviewing was created to allow employers to find out about your personality without asking questions you can memorize answers to before an interview. Managers/recruiters/peer-panels are trained to do this! Behavioral interviews catch you off guard. For employers, they are an amazing way to interview and increase retention, but for interviewees, they CAN be intimidating. Read on below for help!

How to prepare? Research common behavioral questions in your industry. Some of the types will be:
You notice your coworker on the phone playing Candy Crush while she could be working, what do you do? Your customer just called and was shipped the wrong order, and he can’t start a project. How would you handle this situation?

A coworker stole your social media idea and pitched it to management, getting full credit. How would you handle this? Behavioral interview questions are situational questions, so think of a situation you have been in —an uncomfortable one— and use that for practice. I have interviewed, it went well, not WHAT? Send an email thank you note, NOW! The same day, no later. This should be a simple but detailed note and is extremely important! Too much or too little detail can be a detriment. This shows excitement and follow-through.

Send references, even if they don’t ask. There are such strict HR laws that employers are limited to the types of questions they can ask a former employer. Providing references is a great way to show confidence. Be sure to include up to five professional and five personal references!

Send a hand-written thank you note via snail mail TODAY!!!
It works ? Call your recruiter and tell them how it went and further express your interest.

21 Questions to Ask In A Job Interview To Improve Your Chances of Getting an Offer An interview is meant to be a two-way street. What questions you ask can mean the difference between getting the job or not! Print this out and bring it with you. Remember, you are interviewing them as well! And don’t forget to ASK FOR THE JOB!!!

Good General Questions:
? What do you see ahead for your company in the next five years?
? How do you see the future of this industry?
? What do you consider to be your firm’s most important assets?
? What can you tell me about your new product or plans for growth?
? How do you rate your competition?
? What happened to the last person who held this job?

The role: Here are strategic questions that allow you to showcase why you are perfect for the job being filled and how you will be evaluated if you get the job:
? What would you consider to be the most important aspects of this job?

? What were the major strengths and weaknesses of the last person who held this job? OR: Tell me about someone who has succeeded in this role – what were their key strengths (you can then compare yourself.)
? What types of skills do you NOT already have onboard that you’re looking to fill with a new hire?
? What are the skills and attributes you value most for someone being hired for this position?
? Could you describe a typical day or week in this position?

The typical client or customer I would be dealing with?
? What are the most immediate challenges of the position that need to be addressed in the first three months?
? What are the performance expectations of this position over the first 12 months?
? How will I be evaluated at XYZ company, and how often?

The department: Asking about the department you may can help you understand more about the company’s culture and hierarchy:

? What is the overall structure of the company and how does your department fit into that structure?
? What are the career paths in this department?
? What have been the department’s successes in the last couple of years?
? How do you view your group/division/department?
? Where have successful employees previously in this position progressed to within the company
? At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask: What are the next steps in the interview process?

Do you have any concerns about my abilities to do this job? ASK THIS! You can “resell” yourself and address any concerns before you leave!!!!
Finally, just reiterate your interest, smile and throw in an additional compliment – GOOD LUCK!

Episode 5~ Guest Post: Advanced Tips for Searching for Unclaimed Money by Haley Evans

Our website is at www.foundmoneycharity.org. While searching for unclaimed money for others, I have learned several tricks for finding unclaimed money that may be helpful to you. Here are a few of them:

Search financial institutions where you have had money. For instance, if you had money at Merrill Lynch, there may be a claim listed with a state under the name of Merrill Lynch “in care of (your name).” These types of claims can go undiscovered because when you only search your name, the claim will not be listed, since it is listed under the name of the financial institution instead.

Search the name of companies or businesses where you previously worked. There are sometimes claims for people that are listed as 401K or other types of funds. These may be listed under the name of your former employer/s. Again, when you search only your name, these claims may not appear.

Search your name with the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. If you or a family member have ever worked for a company with pension benefits, you may want to search for an unclaimed pension listed with the PBGC. You can visit their website at www.pbgc.gov. Note that some pension benefits may not be available until you reach retirement age.

Search the names of friends and family. It is a good idea to search the names of people who might otherwise not search for themselves, but who would appreciate it if you found money for them. They get their money back and you get their thanks!

Good luck!

Episode 4~ GUEST POST: How Can You Create Successful Online Courses?

Teaching online has become a fantastic way to build passive income, and I’ve been able to turn it into my main source of income. Here are my top 3 tips for building an audience and finding success in teaching online.

1. Commit to Creating New Content Regularly
A single class may get a great response in the first few months, and even make you a decent amount of money, but eventually enrollments are going to taper off. Posting new, high-quality courses regularly will create a steady flow of income and organically build an audience for your content.

2. Do Your Research
By researching classes that have already found success, you can also become successful. Find out why a class has (or hasn’t) performed well. Model your classes off of what has already proved to be successful. And don’t be afraid to teach on a topic that’s already been taught; Maybe your method for grilling the perfect burger is better than the other 50 best-ever techniques. Students are interested in seeing multiple techniques for the same type of project.

3. Don’t Just Teach How, Teach Why
The difference between online tutorials and high-quality online courses is the difference between how and why. If you just give your students step-by-step instructions on how to complete a project, without any explanation of your thought process, they’ll never be able to apply what you are teaching to other projects. Instead, if you teach the students why you’re taking the steps you are, and why another approach isn’t a good idea, they’ll learn how to think for themselves and become better at their craft.

Follow those three tips and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful online teacher!

Episode 3~ GUEST BLOG: Think People First, Bonus Second, When Recruiting New Co-Workers

1) Start with the understanding that employee referral is a people business.
You’re helping people find employment, and that means you’re connected to their livelihood.  It’s important and fulfilling work, but only if you take it as seriously as it deserves to be taken.  You have to be genuinely concerned for the welfare of the people with whom you are working.

2) Use your network. Identify people within your network that are unemployed or underemployed. Try to identify people who are looking for another opportunity or maybe are not looking yet, but are unhappy with their current employment. Advertise openings that your company has on your social media networks and if anybody you meet or see mentions looking for employment, be willing to follow up and ask them what sort of position interests them.

3) Use the internet. Find online networking & mentoring opportunities.
Help people in the community that need or want support in employment transition.  Don’t just consider who you know, but consider who you could get to know. Build a network and, also. experience in supporting people in employment transition.

4) Find where your company has needs.
Get in touch with your recruiters and ask how you can support.  Build networks inside your company to understand the best ways to refer people into the firm and ask for advice on the process.  Set up time to meet with an HR representative to ask what they’re looking for in a resume so you understand specifically what the company’s needs are and how you can help find people who meet those needs.

5) Always do what’s best for the person you’re supporting.  Depending on where you work and who you’re mentoring, you might have a great position open for them. But there might also be a better opportunity somewhere else.  At least half of the people I have worked with, I have helped identify opportunities with other firms or companies. You’re doing it right if you’re happy to have helped someone find a position – whether you get a bonus for it or not. You’ll be helping to create the best circumstances for everyone.

Episode 2~ Guest Blog: What’s Required to Become A Surrogate Mother?

What is surrogacy?
Surrogacy is when a woman carries and gives birth to baby for someone else, usually for a woman unable to carry the child herself.  This is done through advancements in reproductive technology such as artificial insemination, in-vitro fertilization/embryo transfer (IVF/ET) and other Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART) that allow otherwise infertile couples a chance to have children. Due to advances in reproductive technology, couples now have medical means to have children.
What is the difference between “traditional surrogacy” and “gestational surrogacy”?
Traditional surrogacy refers to a woman who has donated her egg and is genetically related to the child she is carrying for the future parents. This occurs when the surrogate mother is inseminated (usually artificially) with the intended father’s sperm. Gestational surrogacy, which is the most common form of surrogacy, occurs when the surrogate mother is NOT genetically connected to the child she is carrying for the intended parents. The eggs are retrieved from the intended mother or an egg donor and then fertilized with the sperm from the intended father or a sperm donor. The embryos are then transferred to the surrogate mother’s uterus. Extraordinary Conceptions only works with gestational surrogates.

In a little over 5 years selling on Fiverr, I’ve made over 8,500 individual sales. It’s a crazy number to think about.
How did I pull it off? Over the years I’ve learned to create systems —Systems to deliver orders, and more importantly, systems to entice buyers to work with me.
Here are my five tips if you’re looking to become a successful seller on Fiverr.com

Tip #1: Be time-efficient
Do you want to spend 4 hours to make $5? Probably not, right? Assignments on Fiverr are called “gigs.” A time- efficient gig means your gig is something that will be easy to scale when you get busy.  Eventually you want to eliminate the “trading time for money” mentality, but if you are just starting out, set an hourly number you want to shoot for. For some people it might be higher than others.
Let’s say you decide you want to make $40 per hour. If you are selling your base gig for $10, you need to be able to do five in one hour to make this amount (Five instead of four because Fiverr takes 20%).

When I first started out my goal was to make $30 per hour. Since I was selling $5 gigs I had figured out a system to complete 7-8 gigs per hour.  The reason this is important is because when you start optimizing your gig extras (I’ll explain more in step #4), your earnings will sky rocket. When I first started out on Fiverr, my average order was $5. 7 gigs/hour = $35. Now my average is around $130 per gig, and some of my gigs take me the same amount of time as those old $5 gigs. $130×7 =$910 per hour. Better, right?

Tip #2: Create a gig that a business would want to buy
Let’s say you wrote the best and most creative Happy Birthday song in the entire world. It’s even better than the original Happy Birthday Song. If you try to sell this on Fiverr, you’ll run into a little problem. Most people aren’t on Fiverr looking for birthday songs. Sure, you’ll sell a few, but the bulk of business on Fiverr lies in…well…business! Position your gig towards businesses. I promise you’ll still get the random “fun order,” but the majority of buyers on the site are buying for commercial purposes. Make sure you’re casting your lure into a sea with a lot of fish —not into a goldfish tank!

Tip #3 : Demonstrate your gig on video
Forrester Research says that 60 seconds of video is worth 1.8 million words. So can you take a guess why demonstrating your gig on video is important? Even if your gig has nothing to do with a video, you still need to showcase your offering on video. Film it on your phone or —better yet—hire a Fiverr seller to make a video for you.
Video not only increases conversion rates but it also showcases your personality. And if you have a good personality, you’ll immediately beat out more experienced sellers if you appeal to the person watching your video. For example, I made videos of myself playing different genres of music on the guitar, to promote a gig where I offered to write an original instrumental song for businesses.

Tip #4: Create a “Gateway Gig”
Remember way back in tip #1 when I talked about optimizing your gig extras?  You need to view your gig as a gateway gig. What does that mean? It means your main offering is a gateway to more offerings called “gig extras” on Fiverr. For example, if I offer a jingle as my gateway gig, my gig extras are for an instrumental version of the track, commercial rights, a video, mastering, faster delivery, etc. All of these additional offerings should be irresistible to a buyer in some way. Meaning they’ll get it faster, it will sound better, they can do more with it, etc. That’s what transforms a $5 order into a $150 order very quickly!

Tip #5: make sure the order can be filled in two days
Now…this doesn’t mean you have to deliver everything in 2 days. It just means you need to be CAPABLE of completing the order in 2 days. The reason this is important is because as a new seller you need a way to differentiate yourself. This doesn’t mean you need to reinvent the wheel, it just means you need your wheel to look a tiny bit more shiny.  For my first 2 months on Fiverr, I delivered everything in 24 hours or less. If someone was in a time pinch, I wanted to make sure I was their choice.
Fiverr has great search filters on their site and if you can deliver fast, a lot of people will see your services.

BONUS TIP
I’ve literally given you the EXACT blueprint that I used to succeed on Fiverr. There is only one thing missing. And this is the most important tip of all:

TAKE ACTION!
Start brainstorming ideas, write them down, set a deadline for yourself. If you don’t actually get out there and create a gig or take action, nothing I said will be relevant. This is the Easy Money Podcast. Will you go out there and be a doer and go after the easy money? Or will you sit back and make excuses? You have two options…GO!
