EPISODE 5~ FIND YOURS: Teenager finds unclaimed money, gives it to charity

Find unclaimed money with The Easy Money Show

HALEY, HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT UNCLAIMED MONEY?
I was 16 and in the kitchen with my Dad and I heard ad for find Mass Money. I had never heard about this before. I looked it up and saw there was over $2 billion in Massachusetts alone that was unclaimed.

SO YOU STARTED SEARCHING FOR UNCLAIMED MONEY FOR PEOPLE YOU KNEW AND THEN FOR TOTAL STRANGERS. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND ON THIS AND WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING PART?
In terms of time I probably spend between 5 or 10 hours a week. I go online and search in Texas and California. They show the amounts of the claims so it is easier for me to reach out to people.
You can put in a name and search for individual or search for business or company. You have to enter it into a search bar. That is one tough part. Finding companies and individuals to search for. Started by looking up companies and non profits and charities and family and friends I know. It escalated from there.

GIVE ME SOME EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE AND COMPANIES AND AMOUNTS YOU HAVE FOUND FOR THEM.
—I have found money for are Boston Global Village – a car company close to where I live. Amount:
headsets.com. Amount:
—And family friend I found $6,000 for.
— One that was interesting to me was that I found a claim for $45,000 in Texas for a professor who now lives in Australia. Someone who doesn’t live in the US can also have unclaimed property and makes me think how many people don’t know they even have money.
— There are two others I identified recently – one for $130,000 and another for $240,000 – one was a financial company and for Xerox.
— A lot are life insurance. Checks sent to the wrong person or address so got lost. Utility bills.D

YOU HAVE TURNED THIS “WIN” INTO A “WIN-WIN.” EXPLAIN HOW YOU USE UNCLAIMED MONEY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHARITY.
I was in a student organization working with a literacy charity and we were having a hard time raising money so I thought it would be a cool idea to see if I could start a charity based on unclaimed money. I was 17 when I incorporated the charity and got 501 c status. Found Money Charity.
When I contact people and businesses I ask that if they collect the unclaimed funds I identify for them, that they either donate  to FMC (in which case FMC will, in turn, donate to the three charities it supports) or that they donate directly to the three charities FMC supports.
It means a lot to me. For a long time I have been connected to these organizations so it is exciting to raise money for them and know I can support them. Going off to college I want to keep this up.

HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU RAISED SO FAR?
Found Money Charity helped Headsets.com collect approximately $9,000 in unclaimed funds in California.  Headsets.com then donated $1,000 directly to FMC – which FMC has divided evenly among the three charities.
FMC identified $3,000 of unclaimed funds in Texas for Boston Volvo.  After Boston Volvo collected that money, it provided me with three checks – each for $500 made out to each of the three charities (Dana Farber, Cradles to Crayons and Brookline Literacy Partnership), and I delivered those to the three charities.
Then Lishan Aklog (an individual) collected the $6,000 in unclaimed funds that FMC identified for him (in New York State).  He generously chose to donate all of that money by sending me three $2,000 checks to each of the three charities, which I then delivered to them.
So the total FMC has raised is $8,500 so far – but I am hoping and expecting to raise substantially more relatively soon.

I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT IT CAN BE HARD TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE’S FOUND MONEY, BECAUSE THEY DON’T BELIEVE YOU! HAS THAT BEEN A CHALLENGE?
I think sometimes people don’t trust it. I don’t know if my emails go into spam folder. I think the process for collecting a claim can also be a really long process. Not that it takes too much effort. You submit forms state needs but can drag on for a few months and that may deter people.
If there is a big claim or someone who I recognize I try to find a way to contact them by email or letter. I write and introduce myself and tell them about the cause and what I am trying to do. I give them a screen shot but I know some might say it is a scam but I give them link and tell them to search and give them the link to my website.

YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED A TOTAL OF MORE THAN 3 MILLION DOLLARS FOR PEOPLE. SO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. LET’S GIVE OUR LISTENERS SOME EXPERT TIPS FOR SEARCHING FOR THEIR OWN UNCLAIMED MONEY. YOU SAY SEARCH EVEN IF YOU DON’T REMEMBER LOSING ANY MONEY.
Don’t think you shouldn’t search just because you don’t remember losing money. Could be electrical bills or cell phone carriers you just don’t know about.

YOUR SECOND TIP: LOOK UP ALTERNATIVE VERSIONS OF YOUR NAME.
Look up maiden names and common misspellings. I see that a lot. Also try putting your first name in the last name box and last name in the first name box. Finally try just using your last name.

THIRD: SEARCH IN STATES WHERE YOU USED TO LIVE.
Search in states where you used to live or went to college or moved or changed addresses. Also search in states where companies you have done business with are headquartered because sometimes unclaimed money is held where the company is located rather than where you are located.

FOURTH, YOU REMIND PEOPLE TO SEARCH THE NAMES OF LOVED ONES WHO HAVE DIED.
Also search for family members and for those who have passed away. I found a few like life insurance for people who passed away.

AND FINAL TIP, YOU POINT OUT THAT SOME CITIES AND TOWNS HAVE THEIR OWN UNCLAIMED MONEY POTS, SO PEOPLE SHOULD LOOK INTO THAT TOO.
Some towns and cities have their own lists. Mostly I look at treasury lists from states but have found towns and cities that have their own list so look there too. Might be smaller amounts of money.

Episode 5~ Guest Post: Advanced Tips for Searching for Unclaimed Money by Haley Evans

Our website is at www.foundmoneycharity.org. While searching for unclaimed money for others, I have learned several tricks for finding unclaimed money that may be helpful to you. Here are a few of them:

Search financial institutions where you have had money. For instance, if you had money at Merrill Lynch, there may be a claim listed with a state under the name of Merrill Lynch “in care of (your name).” These types of claims can go undiscovered because when you only search your name, the claim will not be listed, since it is listed under the name of the financial institution instead.

Search the name of companies or businesses where you previously worked. There are sometimes claims for people that are listed as 401K or other types of funds. These may be listed under the name of your former employer/s. Again, when you search only your name, these claims may not appear.

Search your name with the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. If you or a family member have ever worked for a company with pension benefits, you may want to search for an unclaimed pension listed with the PBGC. You can visit their website at www.pbgc.gov. Note that some pension benefits may not be available until you reach retirement age.

Search the names of friends and family. It is a good idea to search the names of people who might otherwise not search for themselves, but who would appreciate it if you found money for them. They get their money back and you get their thanks!

Good luck!

Episode 4~ TOP TIP: How To Stop Debt Collectors From Calling You

DID YOU KNOW THERE’S A WAY TO STOP DEBT COLLECTORS FROM CALLING YOU EVER AGAIN? ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REQUEST THEIR COMPANY NAME AND ADDRESS THE NEXT TIME THEY CALL. THEN, SEND THEM A CERTIFIED LETTER, ASKING THAT THEY NEVER CALL YOU AGAIN. BY LAW, THEY MUST OBEY YOUR WISHES! AFTER THAT, THEY CAN ONLY CONTACT YOU TO INFORM YOU OF A SPECIFIC LEGAL ACTION THEY ARE TAKING AGAINST YOU, AND THAT NOTICE WILL COME BY MAIL. AND, YES, THIS WORKS EVEN IF YOU OWE THE DEBT. PAYING IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. LISTENING TO INTIMIDATING PHONE CALLS AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY IS NOT!

Episode 4~ MAKE MORE: How To MAKE MONEY IN YOUR SLEEP BY CREATING ONLINE COURSES

TODAY WE’RE GONNA EXPLORE HOW TO “MAKE MORE” BY TEACHING ONLINE COURSES. THIS IS SOMETHING I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT DOING MYSELF, BECAUSE I LOVE THE IDEA THAT MY COURSE CAN BE OUT THERE MAKING MONEY FOR ME WHILE I’M RIDING MY BIKE OR WINE TASTING OR PLAYING WITH MY DAUGHTER. BUT… WHILE I HEMMED AND HAWED ABOUT IT, MY NEXT GUEST WENT FOR IT. HE’S NOW ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COURSE CREATORS ON SKILLSHARE.COM. PLEASE WELCOME JAKE BARTLETT TO THE EASY MONEY SHOW.

JAKE, LET’S TEE THIS UP BY DESCRIBING WHERE YOU WERE WORKING AND WHAT YOU WERE DOING BEFORE YOU STARTED TEACHING ONLINE COURSES
I graduated in 2010 and got a job with a production company in LA doing motion graphics and was there 5 years. It’s a form of animation. All done on computer. Examples are an animated logo of a product in a commercial or a video that explains how a phone app works. Kind of like a cartoon. There’s a wide range of what I can work on. I became their lead art designer/animator and jack of all trades. Anything visual that needed to be created I did.

AND THEN YOUR WIFE FOUND A WEBSITE CALLED SKILLSHARE, WHERE PEOPLE TEACH COURSES AND SHE SUGGESTED YOU CHECK IT OUT. I LOVE A GUY WHO LISTENS TO HIS WIFE. SO TELL US ABOUT THE FIRST COURSE YOU TAUGHT: WHAT WAS THE SUBJECT AND HOW DID IT DO?
First class was November 2013. It was a class on animating text. It was a successful first class. Skillshare promoted my class because it was a small category. After my first class I had 1500 followers on Skillshare. I left that class up a year. I never thought I would have anything else to offer. I thought that was all I could teach.

SO AT THIS POINT YOU WERE STILL WORKING AT THE PRODUCTION COMPANY. AND THEN SKILLSHARE ASKED YOU IF YOU COULD TEACH A SECOND COURSE. WHAT WAS THAT ONE ABOUT AND HOW DID IT DO?

To my surprise, my second class was just as much of a success. I doubled my following in a month. After that I realized I probably can do this and if I continue posting classes it could lead to a valuable source of income.

SO YOU HAD 2 COURSES ABOUT MOTION GRAPHICS AND YOU WERE ALSO FREELANCING CREATING MOTION GRAPHICS AND YOU HAD A REVELATION, RIGHT?
I realized my day job was taking away from my freelance career! I left that job in December 2014. I made it a goal to post a new class every month. It doesn’t happen consistently but that is my goal. Now I have over 20 classes.

MANY PEOPLE REALLY STRIVE AND STRUGGLE TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS ON THEIR OWN. IS THIS WORK HARD FOR YOU?
I’d say pretty easy, actually. My responsibility after I post a class is that I have to answer questions. Every class is project-based. If students want a critique on their end-of class-project I will give it —but only if they ask! 90% of the work is up front. The teaching part of it, I have a knack for explaining things clearly and concisely. The production part is probably the biggest hurdle for teachers but I have been doing that a while. I edit on Premier. It’s become easy for me.

AND NOW YOU MAKE ROUGHLY 4-THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH JUST ON SKILLSHARE —THROUGH COURSES YOU ALREADY PUT TOGETHER! WHAT KIND OF DIFFERENCE HAS THIS MADE IN YOUR LIFE?
It was the biggest factor in me quitting my job. Even if I had no other work, the money that comes from skillshare is enough. I quit my job before my wife got pregnant. I’ve been home every day of my son’s life and he is now 18 months. I have never had to spend a day away from him. My wife and I just bought our first house.

BY THE WAY, FOLKS, JAKE IS JUST 28, AND ALREADY A HOMEOWNER. LOVE IT! PEOPLE LISTENING ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO WANT TO EMULATE YOUR SUCCESS. SO, LET’S GET INTO SOME “HOW TO” ADVICE. FIRST, YOU SAY IT’S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK NATURALLY AND BE REAL ON CAMERA. WHY?
I used to tell anyone they could teach on Skillshare and that anyone could do this but I have seen people that don’t have such success. You need to be able to talk naturally and be real on camera. You also need to be concise. Rambling turns students off.

YOU ALSO SAY PEOPLE NEED TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK COMFORTABLY INTO A MICROPHONE. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST THEY DO?
You need to be comfortable talking into a microphone, which you can do with practice. This is not something you should jump into and expect instant great results. You need to put in the time and practice. You have to get used to how your voice sounds and be able to explain things clearly.

DO YOU RECORD YOUR CLASSES AT A SKILLSHARE STUDIO OR FROM A HOME STUDIO? AND IF THIS IS SOMETHING PEOPLE CAN DO FROM HOME, WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL THEY NEED?
I record from a home studio. I have seen people teach successful online courses using just the built-in microphone on their computer. I myself borrowed a decent mic at first. I would suggest using a decent quality microphone, which you can get for less than $100. I later purchased software that allows me to show people the steps I am taking on my computer screen. And if you want to get really fancy you can buy a green screen and a nice video camera for recording any portions where you are on camera. You can start with low or no investment and then buy equipment as you start succeeding.

YOU SAY TO KNOW WHETHER YOUR PLATFORM PAYS MORE FOR THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS OR THE NUMBER OF MINUTES WATCHED AND PRIORITIZE THAT. EXPLAIN.
The first couple of years Skillshare paid by enrollment so the goal was to attract as many students as possible. Shorter was better back then because students liked short courses. We took our lessons and broke them up into multiple short segments. It is multi video. Break up lesson in segments. My classes average between 45 minute and one hour 15 minutes per class. I break that up into 5 to 10 minute videos. It’s determined by the content.

Now we are paid by how long students are watching our classes. The payment is based on minutes of content watched. Today longer classes are beneficial. My wife made short classes but we are shifting to longer classes because the longer someone watches the more we make. This is a good model because if your course is high quality, people will continue watching. If it’s poor quality, they may sign up but then they won’t continue.

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OFFERING COURSES ON SITES LIKE SKILLSHARE THESE DAYS. HOW CAN PEOPLE STAND OUT?
In terms of what you are teaching, you need to be an expert in it because if a student isn’t getting valuable information they wont come back to you. Quality of your content is the biggest thing. And then you have to brand yourself. My title graphics and thumbnails are all similar designs. I want you to know they are from me. Even if you’re not a graphic artist like me, it’s a good idea to have a consistent look to all of your materials.

EVERY TIME ON EASY MONEY, WE CHOOSE ONE OF OUR 3 SEGMENTS, TO EXPLORE SOME MORE THROUGH VIDEO…IDEALLY, SOMETHING WHERE THE VISUALS WILL HELP US GO DEEPER. THIS TIME, IT WAS A NO-BRAINER. YOU JUST HEARD HOW JAKE BARTLETT IS MAKING A NICE LIVING TEACHING ONLINE MOTION GRAPHICS COURSES. WELL, IT SURE WOULD BE NICE TO SEE WHAT MOTION GRAPHICS ARE —IN CASE YOU WANT TO DO THAT. AND WHAT ONLINE COURSES LOOK LIKE -IN CASE YOU WANT TO DO THAT. I”VE POSTED THE VIDEOS AT EASYMONEYSHOW.COM/04.

Episode 4~ SAVE MORE BECAUSE PROPERTY TAXES ARE NOt INEVITABLE —YOU CAN APPEAL.

Save more money with The Easy Money Show

According to the National Taxpayers Union, between 30 and 60 percent of properties in the U.S. are over-assessed. THEY’RE CHARGING YOU MORE TAX THAN YOU SHOULD PAY. AND YET less than 5 percent of homeowners appeal. the majority of thOSE WHO DO win at least a partial victory!
IT GOES AGAINST THE GRAIN, BUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IS MAKE YOUR HOUSE SOUND AS CRAPPY AS POSSIBLE! MY FRIENDS Josh and Alicia Green embraced the concept of trashing their own house WHEN THEY MADE THEIR APPEAL. THEY REMINDED THE CITY THAT THEY LIVED ON A SUPER-BUSY ROAD. THEY WENT ON AND ON ABOUT EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THEIR HOUSE NEEDED, LIKE A NEW ROOF. AND THEY NOTICED THAT THE D.C. GOVERNMENT LISTED THEIR HOUSE AS HAVING 3 BEDROOMS, BUT A PREVIOUS OWNER had knocked out a wall and made it two bedrooms, SO THEY POINTED OUT THAT LOWERED THE VALUE, AS WELL. IT WORKED! The Greens SAY they spent about 5 hours and saved at least $5,000 ON THEIR property taxes OVER THE SEVEN YEARS THEY LIVED IN THAT HOME.
I DID A STORY ON A HOMEOWNER IN NEW JERSEY, WHERE PROPERTY TAXES ARE EVEN HIGHER, AND HIS APPEAL SAVED HIM $5,000 PER YEAR.
SO HERE ARE THE STEPS TO APPEAL YOUR PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT:

FIRST, Meet the deadline. Tax assessments ARRIVE AT DIFFERENT TIMES IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY, SO FIND OUT WHEN YOUR JURISDICTION MAILS THEM OUT AND BE READY. you typically have just 30 to 120 days to file your appeal.

NUMBER 2, Understand “assessment ratios.” Some jurisdictions tax your house based on 100 percent of its value, but others assign a lower “assessment ratio,” LIKE 60 percent. SO a house with a market value of $100,000 would have an assessed value of $60,000. If you see a number that’s lower than your home’s true value, check the assessment ratio before assuming you don’t have a case.

NUMBER 3, Look for errors on your “property worksheet.” THESE ARE THE nternal notes and data the assessor used when setting a value for your property. CHECK THE lot size, house age and dimensions, number of bedrooms and baths, most recent purchase price and anything else that could BE INFLATING your home’s value. This is the tactic the Greens used when they pointed out their house had two bedrooms, not three.

4TH: See if the “comparables” are really comparable. The government’s internal notes will also include “comparable” properties the assessor used to help determine the value of your house. Look for reasons why the properties the assessor chose are not appropriate. Are they bigger? Newer? Newly remodeled? Do they have watertight roofs, while your house needs a new one, like the Greens’ did? Next, identify three to six alternative comparables that are more favorable to you. You can find them for free using A website like Zillow.

NUMBER 5: Escalate as needed. Some property tax disputes can be settled through informal discussions with the assessor’s office. More commonly, you will be asked to fill out forms and the entire process will be done on paper. If THAT fails, then most jurisdictions offer an in-person hearing as the next step. HERE’S A HOT Tip: Attend somebody else’s hearing first to get a feel for the process.

AND FINALLY, Hire help if you must. If you don’t have time to follow the steps above, you can hire help. Some real estate attorneys take property tax appeals on a contingency basis, which means you don’t pay unless you win. If you do WIN, a typical fee is A third to A half of the first year’s savings.

THAT’S IT! MY FRIEND ALICIA SAID APPEALING THEIR PROPERTY TAXES WAS EASIER THAN FILLING OUT HER KIDS SUMMER CAMP FORMS AND FOR THE TIME INVESTED, SHE GOT MONEY BACK INSTEAD OF FORKING IT OVER!

Episode 4~ FIND YOURS: FIND YOUR UNCLAIMED MONEY BEINg HELD BY THE IRs.

Find unclaimed money with The Easy Money Show

THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT REASONS THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE COULD HAVE UNCLAIMED MONEY OF YOURS. THE FIRST IS SIMPLE: UNDELIVERED TAX REFUNDS. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU FILED A TAX RETURN, YOU WERE DUE A REFUND, AND FOR SOME REASON THAT REFUND NEVER MADE IT TO YOU. MAYBE YOU MOVED, SO THE CHECK WAS RETURNED ADDRESS UNKNOWN. OR MAYBE THE POSTAL SERVICE MESSED UP.

THE STATS VARY, BUT IN ONE RECENT YEAR THE IRS WAS HOLDING ONTO $110 MILLION WORTH OF REFUND CHECKS THAT HAD BEEN RETURNED. THOSE CHECKS BELONGED TO MORE THAN 115-THOUSAND TAXPAYERS. THAT’S ABOUT $950 APIECE IF PEOPLE’S REFUNDS HAD ALL BEEN EQUAL!

IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOUR REFUND HAS GONE ASTRAY, THE IRS HAS A TOOL ON ITS WEBSITE CALLED “WHERE’S MY REFUND?!” YOU ENTER YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF YOUR EXPECTED REFUND AND IF THE IRS HAS IT, YOUR NAME WILL POP UP. UNFORTUNATELY THIS SYSTEM ONLY TRACKS REFUNDS FOR THE MOST RECENT YEAR.

NOW, HERE’S THE OTHER WAY THE IRS COULD HAVE UNCLAIMED MONEY FOR YOU: IF YOU WERE OWED A REFUND BUT DIDN’T BOTHER TO FILE A TAX RETURN! THIS IS INCREDIBLY COMMON! FOR EXAMPLE, A CHART ON THE IRS WEBSITE SHOWS THAT 95-THOUSAND CALIFORNIANS AND 96-THOUSAND TEXANS FAILED TO FILE EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE DUE REFUNDS IN A RECENT YEAR!

AND IT’S NOT JUST OVERPAID TAXES YOU COULD BE OWED. MANY MODERATE INCOME PEOPLE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT. BUT IF YOU DON’T FILE A RETURN, YOU DON’T GET IT! THE EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP PEOPLE WHOSE INCOMES ARE BELOW CERTAIN THRESHOLDS. FOR EXAMPLE, FOR 2016, A WORKER WITH 2 CHILDREN WHO MADE A LITTLE UNDER $45-THOUSAND DOLLARS, WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT OF ABOUT $5,500!

NOW, I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING: UH OH, I DIDN’T FILE A TAX RETURN SO I’M GONNA GET IN TROUBLE! BUT YOU AREN’T! THERE’S NO PENALTY FOR FILING A LATE RETURN IF YOU WERE OWED A REFUND! WOO HOO! AND THAT MEANS THERE’S NO RISK IN FILING AND CLAIMING THE MONEY THAT IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS! ACTUALLY, THERE’S ONE RISK: IF YOU DON’T FILE WITHIN 3 YEARS, BY LAW THE IRS GETS TO KEEP THE MONEY! WHY SHOULD THE TAX MAN KEEP WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS?

OK, HOPEFULLY I’VE GOT YOUR ATTENTION. BUT I KNOW YOU MAY BE DRIVING OR RUNNING ON A TREADMILL OR SOMETHING WHILE YOU LISTEN TO THIS INTRIGUING INFORMATION, SO I HAVE COMPILED ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED.

HERE’S THE LINK TO CHECK FOR TAX REFUNDS THAT HAVE BEEN RETURNED UNDELIVERED.

AND HERE IS INFORMATION ON HOW TO FILE PAST TAX RETURNS SO YOU CAN GET YOUR REFUND AND ANY TAX CREDITS YOU DESERVE.

Episode 4~ GUEST POST: How Can You Create Successful Online Courses?

Teaching online has become a fantastic way to build passive income, and I’ve been able to turn it into my main source of income. Here are my top 3 tips for building an audience and finding success in teaching online.

1. Commit to Creating New Content Regularly
A single class may get a great response in the first few months, and even make you a decent amount of money, but eventually enrollments are going to taper off. Posting new, high-quality courses regularly will create a steady flow of income and organically build an audience for your content.

2. Do Your Research
By researching classes that have already found success, you can also become successful. Find out why a class has (or hasn’t) performed well. Model your classes off of what has already proved to be successful. And don’t be afraid to teach on a topic that’s already been taught; Maybe your method for grilling the perfect burger is better than the other 50 best-ever techniques. Students are interested in seeing multiple techniques for the same type of project.

3. Don’t Just Teach How, Teach Why
The difference between online tutorials and high-quality online courses is the difference between how and why. If you just give your students step-by-step instructions on how to complete a project, without any explanation of your thought process, they’ll never be able to apply what you are teaching to other projects. Instead, if you teach the students why you’re taking the steps you are, and why another approach isn’t a good idea, they’ll learn how to think for themselves and become better at their craft.

Follow those three tips and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful online teacher!
