EPISODE 10~ FIND YOURS: Unused Gift Cards: Regift yourself by finding unclaimed gift cards that were never spent

Find unclaimed money with The Easy Money Show

I’ve been covering unclaimed money for years and whenever I searched for
myself I wouldn’t find anything. I always thought, that’s me, way too anal to lose track of any of my money! But it’s a good idea to check back every year or so
and I did just that when I was preparing to launch this podcast and talk about unclaimed money every week. Sure enough, I am owed unclaimed money from
ticketmaster gift certificates I purchased for somebody that they never used.
I’m super curious which one of my friends or family is so lame that they didn’t manage to go see a concert or a show —on me— with the gift card I gave them.

But, somebody missed out and now I can reclaim that money if I want. In fact, if my recipient now tries to use their gift card, they will find that it is no longer valid because the District of Columbia is holding the money for me.
Not every state requires merchants to turn over unused money from gift cards,
and some states only force them to do this if the gift card has an expiration date. I counted and about a quarter of states now seize gift card money as unclaimed money. Here is a link to the entire list of states that seize unused gift cards as unclaimed money.

Meanwhile, some advice: The only reason I can get my gift card money back is
that I bought the gift cards online, so Ticketmaster had my name and address. If you buy a gift card in a store, there may not be a record. However, most gift cards give you a way of registering the purchase online, which is also smart in the event of fraud, so you might want to take a couple of minutes and do that.

Sometimes recipients register themselves as the owners of gift cards and, in that case, recipients may be able to make a claim as well. But regardless, unused gift cards are yet another reason to search for unclaimed money. And, as always, the best places to check are MissingMoney.com and unclaimed.org. Again, .org. Let me know if you find anything and maybe I’ll interview you on Easy Money!

EPISODE 10~ GUEST BLOG: 10 Ways to Shoot and Sell Stock Photos for Cash

You could make $500 or more per month —without even trying— by
posting photos you already own to multiple stock photo sites. The
pictures do have to be appropriate for stock photo purposes. Here are
10 tips so you’ll know which images in your library might bring you an
unexpected passive income.

1. Picture potential stories. With stock photography, your images can tell
hundreds of stories for a variety of brands. Set up your shots in advance
with a few ideas in mind on how they can be used and then market them
accordingly.

2. Avoid brands and logos. Your photos cannot be used for stock
purposes if there are brands, logos, or trademarks in the image. Brands
don’t want to see other brands’ images in their ads. Plus many brand
names, logos —and even shapes— are copyrighted. Keep it simple and
off-brand.

3. Focus on people. Stock photos can range from people working out
at the gym to working in the office, to landscape shots of nature. If you’re
really looking to make money, though, photos with people in them sell
the best.

4. Get model and property releases. You must have model releases in
order to sell any photos of recognizable people. Also make sure you
have property releases for any photos that show recognizable
properties. Without these, you won’t be able to use your photos legally.

5. Include negative space. Your stock photos will stand out amongst
the rest with negative space, not only because the subject is the clear
focus, but also because it leaves plenty of room for those using your
photos to include headlines, titles, and other information. Plus, clean,
simple images are popular right now!

6. Consider your unique access. Think about people you know who
may be able to give you access to unique scenes. Do you know a
college professor, who would let you shoot classroom photos? Or a zoo
keeper who might be able to get you behind-the- scenes for animal

shots? Also look for lists of scenes microstock companies need, and see
if you have a way of providing them.

7. Shoot with large resolution. Customers purchasing your stock
photos might have to blow them up into large formats or edit the photos
as they please, this makes it crucial to shoot high resolution photos so
they are never pixelated or distorted.
8. Save art for another project. Stock photos are meant to be simple
with a clear image and story surrounding them. If you enjoy artsy
photography, continue to work on your experimental photos, but save
them for an appropriate audience in art galleries.

9. Optimize keywords and tags. By using tags, keywords, and
detailed descriptions, your photos will be placed into more —but also
specific— categories. This provides the opportunity for your photos to be
seen by a large pool of people who truly need them. Many stock sites
will actually do this for you now!

10. Consider using multiple stock sites. I’m a fan of Snapwi.re and
it’s the only stock photo site I work with, because it has terms that are more generous to photographers. But if Snapwi.re won’t work for you, putting
your portfolio on multiple different stock photo sites is an option. It may
seem like a lot of maintenance, but really there’s nothing to maintain.
Uploading photos is a one-step process, but the revenue can trickle in for
years to come.

EPISODE 9 ~ TOP TIP: Moving Companies: Never hire over the Internet

YOU SHOULD NEVER HIRE A MOVER OVER THE INTERNET. THE PROBLEM WITH HIRING MOVERS ONLINE IS THAT THEY ASK YOU TO TAKE INVENTORY OF YOUR OWN BELONGINGS AND GIVE THEM A LIST. THEN, ON MOVING DAY, THEY CLAIM YOU UNDERESTIMATED HOW MUCH STUFF YOU HAD AND THEY USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO JACK UP THE PRICE. INSTEAD, WHETHER MOVING LOCALLY OR LONG DISTANCE YOU MUST HIRE A MOVER WHO SENDS A PROFESSIONAL ESTIMATOR TO YOUR HOME. THEN, ASK FOR WHAT’S CALLED A “GUARANTEED NOT TO EXCEED” ESTIMATE. THAT MEANS IF YOUR STUFF WEIGHS LESS THAN THEY ESTIMATED, YOU’LL PAY LESS BUT IF IT WEIGHS MORE, YOU’LL STILL PAY THE AMOUNT THEY ESTIMATED.

EPISODE 9 ~ MAKE MORE: Selling on Poshmark: Which clothes sell best and make you most money

TODAY’S ‘MAKE MORE’ SEGMENT IS ABOUT SELLING CLOTHING ON POSHMARK, THE
POPULAR FASHION APP THAT IS USED BY 1 OUT OF EVERY 50 WOMEN IN AMERICA.
POSHMARK “SELLER STYLISTS” MARKET THEIR OWN SENSE OF STYLE AND ALSO CURATE
GREAT FINDS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. MY GUEST TODAY IS ONE OF POSHMARK’S BIGGEST
SUCCESS STORIES. PLEASE WELCOME JESSICA CRADDOCK TO THE EASY MONEY SHOW. HI
JESSICA!
JESSICA, EXPLAIN WHAT POSHMARK IS AND HOW YOU FIRST GOT STARTED.
Poshmark is an app for women and men too. It is a place where you can sell
designer clothes and fashion out of our own closet or things you buy to resell or boutique items. I started on Poshmark right after the app launched in 2012.
Friend downloaded thru Facebook and said she listed a purse and sold it quickly.
I graduated from a top ten law school and I was poshing my way through law
school. Throughout law school I used Poshmark to sell items from my own closet
on occasion. I’ve always been into fashion and having a hustle and making
money.

BUT THEN, SUDDENLY YOUR LIFE CHANGED. TELL US WHAT HAPPENED AND HOW THAT CAUSED YOU TO CHANGE HOW YOU APPROACHED POSHMARK.

My fiancé who worked while I was in law school, he got injured at work. It started to play a full-time role in my life when my fiancé became disabled at work. He took a cut in pay when disabled. I was left as the sole provider for the two of us.

I had sold some of my items casually and when he got hurt at work I
thought this is a good avenue for us to still be able to pay car payments. I started selling my own clothes. I had recently lost 296 pounds. So I had all kinds of clothes I held onto in various sizes. It started doing really well.

NEXT YOU CROSSED OVER FROM SELLING YOUR OWN CLOTHES TO BUYING CLOTHES TO SELL ON POSHMARK. WAS THAT A GOOD GAMBLE?

I had always been into designer fashion so I started going to stores when I ran
out of my own clothes. Lived in Chapel Hill at the time. A lot of college students and they tended to donate stuff so I would find nice designer clothes at thrift stores and local Goodwills and sell it and making a decent profit. I could buy pair of jeans for 3.79 at Goodwill and sell for $30 to $75 or upwards of $100 if really high end brand. Now I reinvest a third of my profits into buying more things to
sell.

WHY POSHMARK, AS OPPOSED TO SOMETHING LIKE EBAY THAT MAYBE
LISTENERS ARE MORE FAMILIAR WITH?

The great thing is active selling versus passive selling. On Ebay it is passive
selling they list and it is out there. On Poshmark, you pull out your phone. Snap
8 pictures of the item. Brand, description and size and put a price and it’s out
there. With Poshmark if you put In time, share items, communicate with people
you can do better. Poshmark takes 20% . Higher than Ebay’s 10% but you don’t
have rules and regulations. Also, there are no returns with Poshmarks after 3
days, which really helps sellers.
SUDDENLY, THIS HAD BECOME A REAL BUSINESS FOR YOU. IN FACT
YOU NAMED IT ACQUITTED APPAREL. HOW MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE
HAS POSHMARK MADE IN YOUR LIFE?
It saved us. We were going to have to use our credit cards for paying our car
notes and rent and it has been an amazing life changing experience for us. Now
that we are more financially secure and he is back in school and we have a
steady income we are using the posh funds to pay for our wedding and pay off
our student loans, which are pretty hefty. Jessica’s closet has transformed into a
full-time business, enabling her and her fiancé to finally pay for trips, medical
bills and everyday life expenses.

SO DO YOU THINK YOU’LL EVEN BOTHER TO USE YOUR LAW DEGREE
AND PRACTICE LAW?
I am trying to decide whether I want to be a lawyer or stick with this. I took the
bar and didn’t pass the first try. I missed it by 3 points. I will take the bar again
and pass it, but not sure if I will practice. I do enjoy what I do. I have fun with it. I
get to spend time with my family. My father almost passed away 2 years ago.
Parents will go with me to the thrift store, which I couldn’t do with a regular law
job. For me it isn’t about getting the big bucks of the corporate world. It’s more
meaningful to spend time with family.
WOW, IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING DITCHING A CAREER IN LAW, I HAVE TO
ASK, WHAT KIND OF MONEY ARE YOU MAKING SELLING FASHION ON
POSHMARK?
In 2012 until early 2014 I was doing $500 to $700 a month. Then it started
really taking off. 2015 got even better. I was making $1,000-1200 a month. Now a bad month for me is $1000. I took a break for a couple of months. I was still poshing and selling but not doing a ton of effort and I was still clearing $900-$1100 a month. If a person works at it you can do $10,000-$15,000 a month.

HOW MANY LISTINGS DO YOU HAVE, IN ORDER TO MAKE THAT KIND OF
MONEY? AND HOW DO YOU STORE ALL THOSE CLOTHES?!
I have a huge store. I have 3000 listings total – including my sold items. At any
given time I try to keep between between 900 and 1000 items online. They are all
in my house. We converted a 1500 square room in basement to a Poshmark
room. 9 z racks with inventory hanging. Organized by brand and size like in
department store. I have bins full of unlisted inventory. I have between 5000-
10,000 items that haven’t listed. My goal is to list all that by summer.
I KNOW YOU MENTOR HUNDREDS OF OTHER POSHMARK SELLERS ON
FACEBOOK, SO LET’S SHARE SOME OF YOUR ADVICE WITH PEOPLE
WHO MAY WANT TO TRY THIS. FIRST OF ALL, YOU SAY ASK FOR HELP.
Jump in feet first. Sell your own items and pay attention to veteran sellers. A lot
of us on the app are willing to help you.
YOU ALSO SAY PEOPLE NEED TO BE PATIENT.
Things can take a while to sell. Fastest sold item sold in a minute or two but
some things have sat for six months to a year. Some things are a long-term
investment.
NEXT TIP: GROW A THICK SKIN.
Learning to deal with people is important. You have to grow a thick skin because
people will drive you up the wall.
ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU SUGGEST PEOPLE WHO TRY SELLING ON
POSHMARK SHOULD HAVE FUN WITH IT.

Have fun with it because there are so many jobs out there you can do in life that you won’t get joy out of. To me, this is one of the things you can get joy out of and spend time with your family and take a leap of faith if it is what you are interested in doing.

AND FINALLY, YOU SAY IT’S IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT WILL SELL.
I’ve grown a lot and that is something people have to do on their own. At the
beginning I bought cheap mall brands that are hard to sell. I am still stuck with those items. Sell your own items but also pay attention to other sellers and what is working for them.

EPISODE 9 ~ SAVE MORE: Prescription Medications: Did you know you can get prescription drugs for free?

Save more money with The Easy Money Show

THE COST OF PRESCRIPTION MEDS HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED IN THE PAST DECADE AND I KNOW FROM MY WORK AS CONSUMER CORRESPONDENT FOR THE DR. OZ SHOW THAT THIS IS A REAL PAIN POINT FOR PEOPLE.

SO, HERE’S THE DEAL: EVERY YEAR, THE BIG PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES EACH GIVE AWAY MORE THAN $200 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF FREE PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS. YES!

IT’S TRUE. FOR SOME REASON, ALMOST NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THESE OFFERS.
THEY’RE CALLED “PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND THEY’RE MEANT TO HELP
PEOPLE WHO AREN’T OLD ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR MEDICARE AND AREN’T POOR ENOUGH TO
QUALIFY FOR MEDICAID. I’VE FOUND THAT THE INCOME THRESHOLDS, ARE REALLY QUITE GENEROUS.

FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN MAKE AS MUCH AS 90-THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR —EVEN MORE IF YOU LIVE IN AN EXPENSIVE AREA LIKE SAN FRANCISCO OR NEW YORK— AND STILL QUALIFY FOR THESE
FREEBIES. IF YOU DON’T QUALIFY FOR FREE MEDS, YOU MAY VERY WELL QUALIFY FOR DISCOUNTED
ONES.

THERE’S A CENTRAL CLEARINGHOUSE WEBSITE YOU CAN GO TO TO SEARCH FOR
PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS THAT COVER YOUR DRUGS. AND PRE-QUALIFYING TAKES…I’M GONNA SAY…2 MINUTES. I’M NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING! YOU JUST ENTER THE MEDS YOU TAKE, YOUR AGE, ZIP CODE, NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD AND YOUR INCOME. AND THEN UP POPS A SCREEN TELLING YOU WHICH FREE MEDS YOU QUALIFY FOR AND HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR
APPLICATION. AT THAT POINT, YOU USUALLY HAVE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF INCOME AND DETAILS LIKE
THAT.

EVERY DRUG COMPANY’S PROGRAM IS DIFFERENT BUT IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT 10 DAYS TO
GET FINAL APPROVAL. THAT’S IT! YOU WILL EITHER PICK UP YOUR FREE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AT A LOCAL PHARMACY OR YOUR DOCTOR’S OFFICE.
I HAVE LINKED YOU TO ALL OF THE RESOURCES YOU NEED TO SEE IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU
KNOW CAN GET FREE PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS:

•Needy Meds: This nonprofit was started by a nurse and doctor to help
people find these programs: www.needymeds.org

•Partnership for Prescription Assistance: Run by PhRMA, the largest
drug industry trade group: www.pparx.org

•RX Assist: Founded by Volunteers in Health Care, which is affiliated with

EPISODE 9 ~ FIND YOURS: Unclaimed Money: Find it for your school, charity, or church

Find unclaimed money with The Easy Money Show

HEY, THINK OF THE BROWNIE POINTS YOU’LL BE EARNING WITH YOUR
TEACHER, FELLOW VOLUNTEERS OR MAYBE EVEN SOMEBODY MUCH HIGHER
UP, IF YOU FIND MISSING MONEY FOR YOUR SCHOOL, CHARITY OR CHURCH!
ALL YOU DO IS GO TO THE SAME TWO FREE SEARCH SITES I ALWAYS
RECOMMEND, MISSINGMONEY.COM AND UNCLAIMED.ORG, (YES, .ORG, NOT
.COM. Very important.) THEN EXPERIMENT WITH TYPING THE SCHOOL,
CHURCH OR CHARITY NAME IN IN VARIOUS WAYS. FOR EXAMPLE IF THE
SCHOOL IS CALLED DIXIE SCHOOL, TRY PUTTING DIXIE IN THE FIRST NAME
FIELD AND SCHOOL IN THE LAST NAME FIELD. IF YOU GET NOTHING, TRY
PUTTING BOTH NAMES IN THE LAST NAME FIELD OR FLIPPING THEM.
FOR CHURCHES, TRY PUTTING IN THE CHURCH’S FULL NAME, BUT IF
NOTHING POPS UP, TRY JUST PUTTING THE WORD “CHURCH” IN THE LAST
NAME FIELD. OR TRY BROAD TERMS THAT MIGHT BE IN YOUR CHURCH NAME
LIKE “EPISCOPAL” OR “PRESBYTERIAN.” OR TEMPLE.
SAME IDEA FOR CHARITIES, EXPERIMENT BY PUTTING ALL OR PART OF
THE CHARITY’S NAME INTO THE FIRST AND LAST NAME BOXES AND, IF AT
FIRST YOU DON’T SUCCEED, MIX IT UP.
I PROMISE YOU THIS DOES WORK. FOR A GOOD MORNING AMERICA
SERIES, I MYSELF WAS INVOLVED IN RETURNING:
$10,000 WORTH OF UNCLAIMED MONEY TO A CHURCH IN NEENAH WISCONSIN.
$59-THOUSAND DOLLARS TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER IN MADISON, WISCONSIN.
$109-THOUSANDS DOLLARS TO A BOYS AND GIRLS HOME IN MISSISSIPPI.
AND $229-THOUSAND DOLLARS TO NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOLS.
IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, ENTITIES LIKE THIS OFTEN HAVE EVEN MORE
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS THAN WE AS INDIVIDUALS DO, AND MORE DIFFERENT
PEOPLE MANAGING THEM, SO IT’S UNDERSTANDABLE THAT SOMETIMES
MONEY WOULD GO MISSING. MAKE SOMEBODY’S DAY! CONDUCT A SEARCH
FOR YOUR SCHOOL, CHARITY OR CHURCH.

EPISODE 9~ GUEST BLOG: POSHMARK SELLER TIPS FROM AN ACTUAL POSHMARK SELLER

POSHMARK SELLER TIPS FROM AN ACTUAL POSHMARK SELLER:

#1 – Poshmark is Not eBay – And that’s a good thing!
Many new users who come to Poshmark assume that it is like eBay.
They list an item for sale and then they let it sit in their closet. They don’t
realize the social aspects of Posh are there and they certainly don’t realize
how crucial they can be to your success. I like to think of Poshmark as a
platform where eBay meets Instagram. You get to communicate with your
buyers, you can see who likes your item, and you get to know people within
the Poshmark Community. Friendships are so common on the platform that
Poshmark has even dubbed friendships stemming from the app as “PFFs.”
(Posh Friends Forever). I will be the first to say that because of its social
aspects, Poshmark is unique in the online selling world. It requires you to
be social. Sharing your items from your closet, working with people
shopping your closet, and communicating with others in the app are all
keys to being a successful Poshmark seller. The difference between
Poshmark and eBay selling as Active Vs. Passive selling. Unlike eBay, you
can use these social tools to directly impact your sales. Having a slow
sales day on Posh? Share your items, reach out to buyers who have
purchased from you in the past, and communicate with those who have
liked several items in your closet to offer them a bigger discount if they buy
more than one item. Doing these things will help positively impact your
sales within the app.

#2 – Harness the Power of the Bundle and Posh Post Shipping!
Bundling is unique to Posh. Bundling allows someone to purchase
more than one item from your Poshmark closet, usually at a discount, and
then you are able to ship them together. The great thing is you can set a
bundle discount automatically to anything from 5-30% and buyers can
bundle and save on their own. Posh also recently did an app update where
you can send private bundle discounts to people who have bundled items
from your closet and not yet purchased! It’s called the Dressing Room. This
is great for impulse buys! I like to wait about 30 minutes after someone has
bundled some items and then send them a quick private discount. Many
times this is enough to get them to hit that buy button! Poshmark is also
unique in that it has its own shipping called PoshPost and it is dirt cheap. I
mean it. Some people will claim that $6.49 is high for shipping, but for that

$6.49 you receive priority shipping which is usually delivered in 2 days, and
you can ship up to 5lbs for that price. Try shipping 5lbs on your own with
USPS from say New York to California, or even Hawaii or Alaska for $6.49!
It won’t happen. On Posh, the buyer pays the shipping, and the seller only
needs to print the label that is sent to them by Poshmark, and place the
item in a FREE USPS Priority box, slap on the label and either drop off the
item at the post office or request a free home pickup online with USPS.
This is seriously the easiest, fastest shipping in the industry. It saves the
buyer and seller money, and provides an amazingly fast ship time when the
seller ships ASAP.

#3 – Pay Attention to Trends and Style Staples!
Poshmark is a trendy place, with boutiques and unique brands
created by Poshmark users themselves popping up all the time to bring you
the hottest fashion-forward styles. For those of us who do resell, paying
attention to these trends and styles is essential to competing. Offering
trendy items that may not be top brands pulls in buyers to your closet by
providing that “in the now” look. While trends are important, knowing your
brands is even more essential to success. Good brands are considered
style staples. When we buy a wardrobe piece that costs $300 at Saks we
are buying a piece that we will love for a long time. No matter if it’s a dress
shirt, blazer or designer denim jeans, they will stick around for a while.
Knowing when to source trendy items that may not be top brands is key to
bringing a fresh look to your closet, but knowing these key brands is how
you pull people back into your closet over and over again. Learning these
brands is as simple as scouring top department store websites, like Saks
and Nordstrom, and taking field trips to the stores themselves to look touch
and feel what these items are so you know. Building a brand list in your
brain takes time, but once you get the hang of it, and know what to look for
in quality goods, you can easily feel quality. Once you get this down, even
if you don’t know a brand, you can do a google search from your phone
while you are out to learn more about something if it has the signs of being
a hidden gem.

#4 – You are your own brand on Posh, and you need to build it!
Poshmark is somewhere you can easily brand yourself. You are your
own brand, and you are you own ambassador. On Poshmark I am

@JCradd and my brand is Acquitted Apparel. Everyone knows me on there
as those two things. Many people have a user name and then their brand.
It is up to you to harness the abilities of being a brand. In order to make
yourself memorable and stand out you should make your closet unique.
You can do this by using a unique background in your photos, branding
yourself with unique brand logos on your photos, ordering unique
packaging materials and thank you notes, and other little tricks that you will
pick up from successful Posh sellers.
#5 – Make your cover shot count!

Remember how I said Posh is like eBay meets Instagram? Your
cover shot is the first thing people see in the feed or when searching for
items. It’s your first impression and much like on Instagram to get the most
likes you’ve got to make it stand out. I love using a cheap background I
purchased online and doing flat lays to get the best look for an item. I will
also use a mannequin if a piece requires it. All of my items have the same
or similar backgrounds, and feature my logo for my brand, Acquitted
Apparel. You should make sure your lighting is good, and if not, invest in a
cheap light kit. Also, quickly edit your photos with your iPhone pre-installed
editing software. It takes two seconds and can make a world of difference.
#6 – Have fun, because the people at PMHQ do!

I always joke with people in my Facebook group that I’m jealous of
the folks who work at Posh Headquarters because they look like they have
so much fun. The great thing is, that positive fun attitude is contagious and
spreads throughout the Posh community. Everyone (well just about
everyone) is friendly and loves to meet people, talk, and do things involving
fashion. Sure, we get our share of people with grumpy tudes, but that
shouldn’t bother you. When you encounter someone like that let it roll off
your back. (Online selling requires a thick skin like any retail business, the
great thing about online though is you can block them!) If you have
questions as you begin your Posh journey, or even as you become a
seasoned Posh vet, don’t hesitate to ask others. Posh is a place to be you,
do what you want to do, sell what you want to sell fashion-wise, and even
do it with the help of friends and family. Have fun with it, for real, because it
can be the most fun job or side hustle of your life. I promise.

EPISODE 8~ TOP TIP: How to Use Frequent Flyer Miles to Get To Sold-Out Cities

PEOPLE ALWAYS COMPLAIN THAT IT’S HARD TO ACTUALLY CASH-IN FREQUENT FLYER MILES, AND IT IS HARD IF YOU WANT TO FLY TO ULTRA-POPULAR CITIES LIKE PARIS OR ROME, IF WE USE EUROPE AS AN EXAMPLE. SO HERE’S A CLEVER STRATEGY: IF ALL OF THE FREE SEATS TO PARIS ARE TAKEN, TRY FLYING TO ANOTHER, LESS POPULAR EUROPEAN CITY INSTEAD. AND THEN BUY A CHEAP SEAT ON A DISCOUNT AIRLINE TO GET TO YOUR REAL DESTINATION. FOR EXAMPLE, MY HUSBAND AND I ONCE FLEW TO FRANKFURT USING FREQUENT FLYER MILES —NO PROBLEM, BUT WE DIDN’T WANT TO GO TO FRANKFURT, WE WANTED TO GO TO ROME!
